Confluence Integration: Keep Your Knowledge Base Always Up to Date

Connect Atlassian Confluence with OAuth 2.0 and automatically sync your security policies, compliance documentation, and internal procedures into Secreply — no manual uploads needed.

March 2025

The problem with manual document uploads

Security documentation lives in many places — but for most teams, the source of truth is Confluence. Your SOC 2 policies, ISO 27001 controls, incident response procedures, and security architecture docs all live there, maintained by your team and updated regularly.

Until now, keeping Secreply's AI knowledge base in sync with those documents meant exporting PDFs and re-uploading them whenever something changed. That's manual work that defeats the purpose of automation.

Automatic Confluence sync

With our new Confluence integration, Secreply connects directly to your Atlassian workspace and syncs pages automatically. Select which spaces and labels to include, set a sync schedule, and your AI knowledge base stays current — without anyone lifting a finger.

When your team updates a policy in Confluence, Secreply picks up the change on the next sync cycle. The next questionnaire you process will use the latest version of your documentation automatically.

Secure OAuth 2.0 authentication

The integration uses Atlassian OAuth 2.0 — the modern, secure authentication standard for Atlassian Cloud apps. This means:

  • No API tokens stored — uses short-lived access tokens that refresh automatically
  • Granular permissions — Secreply only requests read access to Confluence pages and spaces
  • Revokable at any time — disconnect from Secreply or revoke access in your Atlassian admin panel
  • No password sharing — your team never enters Atlassian credentials in Secreply

We also support Basic auth with API tokens for teams that prefer simpler setup or use Confluence Data Center.

How it works

  1. Connect — Go to Settings → Integrations → Confluence. Authenticate with OAuth 2.0 in one click.
  2. Select spaces & labels — Choose which Confluence spaces to sync. Optionally filter by label (e.g., iso27001, security-policy).
  3. Set sync frequency — Choose every 6 hours, daily, or manual-only.
  4. Done — Secreply fetches your pages, chunks them into sections, generates embeddings, and adds them to your knowledge base. Future syncs only process changed pages.

Smart incremental sync

Secreply doesn't re-process your entire Confluence space on every sync. It detects which pages were modified since the last sync and only re-indexes those. This keeps sync fast and efficient — even for spaces with hundreds of pages.

Pages that are removed or unpublished in Confluence are automatically archived in your knowledge base, so stale content doesn't pollute your AI answers.

Filter by label for precision

Not everything in your Confluence space is relevant for security questionnaires. Use Confluence labels to control exactly which pages get synced. For example:

  • Label your SOC 2 policies with soc2
  • Tag ISO 27001 controls with iso27001
  • Mark security architecture docs with security

Secreply will only sync pages matching your configured label — keeping your knowledge base focused and your AI answers precise.

Full traceability with citations

Every AI-generated answer in Secreply includes citations back to source documents. With the Confluence integration, citations reference the specific Confluence page and section — so reviewers can verify answers against the authoritative source in one click.
